Hook

three commonly used phrases that I actually think are more hurtful than helpful when it comes to building a brand and this is specifically for my newer entrepreneurs or founders 1 you just need to solve a problem I don't think that's correct because there's plenty of brands who solve a problem and the consumer still does not care the brands that maintain traction and actually stick and capture consumers attention are the brands who not only provide a solution but they provide their unique perspective or point of view on a solution 2 positioning is about paying attention to competitors in your market of course paying attention to competitors is important but we are no longer just fighting against competition in our direct industries or markets we're actually competing for the consumer's attention but I encourage my clients to do is position their brand both in the market but also with the intention of positioning it in the consumer's mind you do this by not just identifying a market gap but an emotional gap that your consumer has not been met with by a brand in your respective industry 3 honing in on your unique selling points especially when it comes to your overall marketing message this is similar to the last one in that it internally forces brands to look at what unique feature or benefit is going to be the thing that makes their product unique however your brand's it factor isn't going to be found in a feature and your ability to stand out uniquely against competition is going to be done by finding what I call your unique feeling point more than your unique selling point as humans we buy with emotions and feelings and we justify those decisions later on through logic so if we are only logically or rationally marketing to our consumer based on features or benefits or the product we're selling that maybe why you feel as though they are not as invested in your brand against competition
