One of the biggest things Type 2 diabetes silently steals is muscle. Most people with Type 2 diabetes and prediabetes are told to focus only on losing weight. Weight loss can be beneficial, but preserving and building skeletal muscle is just as important because it’s the largest site for insulin stimulated glucose uptake in the body. The more healthy muscle you have the greater your body’s capacity to take up glucose in response to insulin. Thats one reason resistance training became a major part of my journey to improving insulin resistance, restoring my metabolism and regaining the ability to process carbohydrates. Building muscle isn’t about looking like a bodybuilder. It’s about giving your body another tool to help improve metabolic health, support healthy blood sugar and age stronger. I rebuilt my body, reversed my insulin resistance, restored my metabolism and restored my body’s ability to process carbohydrates. More than seven years later, I take no medication, have no carbohydrate restrictions and my body processes carbohydrates like I never had Type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes isn’t reversed through semantics. It’s reversed through actions. Follow for more tips on Type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, insulin resistance, blood sugar, nutrition and resistance training. If you’re ready to reverse your insulin resistance and restore your metabolism, the instructions to get my program are in my bio. #type2diabetes #insulinresistance #prediabetes #bloodsugar #reversetype2diabetes
