This guy tried mansion for $800,000, but nobody would. Instead, he raffled it off for just $2 a ticket, up being the best business decision he ever made. Dustin, and in 2017 he owned this huge, huge six bedroom mansion in the U.K. The problem is that when he put it up for sale at $850,000, he thought it would sell immediately, but it didn't. It was on the market for months. No one bought. He tried getting real estate agents for him, and even that didn't work. So he decided to roll with a creative idea. What if, instead of dropping the price until someone buys, I just raffle off my house and sell really, really cheap tickets? That's exactly what he did. He turned his house into a raffle promotion. He charged people two dollars to buy for a chance to win his house. A British man couldn't sell his £845,000 mansion, so he raffled it off at £2 a ticket, sold nearly 500,000 entries, and handed the keys to someone who spent just £40. You might think that's a dumb decision, 'cause there's no way he's gonna raise more than $850,000 with people buying two dollar tickets, but that's actually not what happened. He was able to sell nearly 500,000 tickets, which meant that he made basically $1 million, the original $850,000 that he couldn't even sell the house for. The winner was a single person who spent $40 buying tickets to enter this raffle and win this mansion. And on top of all of that, he didn't have to pay any commission to a real estate agent.
