Professionalism 101

Notice isn't for your employer, it's for your colleagues. Let's say you work in marketing. And you decide you hate your boss, you hate the organization. You want to stick it to the man. So you're not gonna give a notice. Screw them, right? No, screw you. Because when you leave that organization, all the work that you're leaving on the table is not going to your boss. It's likely being disseminated among your colleagues to manage your workload. And that's very annoying. And you think that people are gonna forget. You still work in the same industry. You can be in marketing and leave one company and go to another and think, okay, I'm done with that place. No, your old coworker might be at the next organization or the next one. And they're always gonna remember that you were not a considerate person and decided to leave your workload for everybody else to manage. Currently in a pre-law program for my school where it's basically helping people matriculate into law school after not being in school for a while or even for people who have just never experienced a graduate level program before. One thing they always say is be professional. Be professional. These are not your classmates, they're your future colleagues. Also remember that your actions of today can follow you tomorrow. So make sure you give your employers enough notice. And it's really not about them, it's about you maintaining your reputation.
