Answering questions & assumptions about me are u actually Portuguese? You look Chinese You sound American What's going on? Haven't done a chatty GRWM in a while so some of the assumptions you guys have about me, because I feel like I get frequently asked questions, so all of them I've been getting a lot of questions about my background so let's address that first So both of my parents are from China which makes me ethnically Chinese but they immigrated to Portugal before I was born I was born and raised in Portugal, which means I am Portuguese. And a lot of people in my comments that this is impossible because a Portuguese person can't look Asian ethnicity and nationality are two different things and honestly, that every time I say I'm Portuguese someone will get outraged In the big year of 2026 90% of the time that I'm Portuguese the next question is always so do you speak Portuguese? and not gonna lie, that question used to bother me a little bit because it felt invalidating Like, did you not believe me when I told you I was Portuguese the first time? You have to hear me speak Portuguese to believe me but I feel like over time, I got so used to that question I always always get I don't get offended anymore I also know that people don't mean it with malicious intentions But yes, the answer is yes I do speak Portuguese I have some videos on my page speaking Portuguese I mainly speak in English on my videos because I have a predominantly English speaking audience is my first language People then also ask me if I speak Chinese and the answer is yes with my parents as well as our local dialect which is called Qingtian hua I also speak Spanish and basic French and Korean Let me know if you guys want a polyglot GRWM I am more than happy Those are kind of fun Apart from the obvious, another reason why people usually are surprised that I am Portuguese is because I don't sound Portuguese or I don't really have a stereotypically Portuguese or European accent I actually have been told that I sound North American and if you're American don't come for me you guys don't think I sound like you, this is what I've heard from other people That I sound American and the reason why I sound is because I went to international school and one very common assumption people make of me is that I am from Macau I am Portuguese Chinese my parents are not from Macau They're from a small village called Qingtian in the province of Zhejiang I think most people who are Chinese who immigrated to South Europe, like Italy, Portugal, France, either come from Wenzhou or Qingtian, which are two neighbouring villages and these two neighbouring villages have a huge diaspora in South Europe. The next assumption happens more in real life but whenever I tell people I do content creation, they assume that I'm some kind of beauty guru or do fashion content But I actually started out making careers and education content and still very much the bread and butter of my account The core mission of my presence online is to share information on careers and education to people of all kinds of backgrounds that will always be and has always been my priority And not gonna lie, sometimes I do feel like a bit of a broken record with, "1st generation corporate girlie" always repeating the same thing but it's just so to continue to ungatekeep these things and I do think that a long way to go and now you guys know a little bit more about me any other questions or assumptions, in the comments below
