Hey Chicago suburbs, come with me to this hidden steakhouse in barn. This is the Barn Steakhouse in Evanston, Illinois. While it might be in the heart of downtown Evanston, it is down an alleyway. The inside has super tall ceilings and this really cool chandelier right in the middle. I learned these used to be the windows that horses would look out of because this barn was originally built in 1883 where it housed horses and buggies for milk delivery service. It's dimly lit and very romantic inside. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and suggested I try the Hemingway Daiquiri. Brad got the Mezcal Old Fashioned, which I think is his new favorite drink. We started with the crab cake and 1 ounce of wagyu. Let Brad get the steak appetizer before his steak dinner. We each got the 8 ounce filet and they come with mashed potatoes and a red wine demi-glaze. He added a parmesan crust to his. Very flavorful meat and cooked to perfection. For dessert we shared the cinnamon gelato and the carrot cake. The carrot cake came with this yummy miso butterscotch sauce. It's right. They do also have a patio if you want to sit outside. As someone who loves patios, I do think the ambiance inside is better. Would you have dinner in an old horse barn? Tell me what you think about this hidden gem in Evanston. And be sure you're following along for more Chicago suburbs eats. suburbs
