No. Something that I realised is that a controlling family, they don't see your boundaries as growth. They actually see them as rebellion. This is why that you become, the more resistance that you experience. See, when you spend years being the peacemaker, the people pleaser, the fixer, you know, the one that never says no, your family get used to that. So the moment that you stop over explaining, the moment that you stop rescuing everyone, the moment that you stop tolerating disrespect or saying things like, that doesn't work for me anymore. They do not experience your boundary as healthy. They actually experienced it as a rejection. Because control depends on predictability. See, the old version of you was predictable. You know, you always gave in, you always apologised, you always came back, you always carried everyone else's emotional weight. Baby, that healed version of you changed the system. And every family system will either adapt to your growth or they will try to pull you back to the role that everybody is comfortable with. That's why you hear things like, you've changed, you've been too selfish, too sensitive, or like you think you're better than us. Truth. Because healthy people don't need unlimited access to you to feel loved. The people who get angry about your boundaries are usually the people who benefited the most from you not having any. You gotta know that your boundaries are not breaking your family. You're just exposing the parts of the family that were only functioning by abandoning yourself.
