perceived prestige and choosing your career

if you're just coming out of university and having to pick your career, my biggest piece of advice is know yourself and pick accordingly, and then get comfortable with the consequences. I graduated from Cambridge with a double first in 2019. I'm now a headhunter, I build boards for the world's fastest growing companies and advise CEOs on their career strategies. I was never gonna do McKinsey, Bain, BCG, I was never gonna be a lawyer. It's just not my personality. I probably would have got fired within week one of the grad scheme, my opinions are too strong. I've always been incredibly entrepreneurial. I had to go into something sales based, maybe something sales based. And I was okay with that. I'd be lying if I said that there aren't days when I wish I'd just done McKinsey so I could tick that off, people would think that was clever. That. But that's probably the most ego-driven response ever. I've could have done another career. I've been especially in the last year, I joined a startup to build a disruptor in my industry by investor. Back in the day when everyone was talking about applying to back schemes, applying to grad schemes, none of that resonated with me, probably on I couldn't put my finger on why, but I knew instinctively it wasn't for me. Looking back it's obvious, just not my personality or my skill set. But if you use today, especially in AI, don't go into a job just because all your friends are doing it. Dig deep, think about what motivates you, think about the skills you want to develop and go from there. It really does not matter what you're doing. You will build the most amazing basis, and you'll be able to do whatever you want after. Yourself. Pick me, comfortable their it's if usually things girlies building
