mayak eggs — korea's famous "drug eggs," named because they're THAT addictive 🥚 jammy yolks + a sweet garlicky soy marinade, and dinner all week is just rice + an egg. full written recipe on my Substack (link in bio) 🤍 ingredients 🥚 6 large eggs, room temp 🧂 1 tsp salt + 1 tbsp vinegar (for boiling) 🥢 1/2 cup soy sauce 💧 1/2 cup water 🍯 3 tbsp honey 🧄 4 garlic cloves, minced 🌱 3 scallions, thinly sliced 🌶️ 1 red chili, finely diced ✨ 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds 🫙 1 tsp toasted sesame oil 🍚 steamed rice, for serving steps 1. boil water with the salt + vinegar, gently lower in eggs and cook 6.5 minutes for jammy yolks 2. move eggs straight to an ice bath and cool completely (10 min) 3. whisk soy sauce, water, honey, garlic, scallions, chili, sesame seeds + sesame oil 4. peel eggs starting from the fat end, then nestle into the marinade 5. press a paper towel on top so every egg stays coated, cover + refrigerate overnight 6. after the first day, take the eggs OUT of the marinade + store separately so they don't get too salty — they keep 4-5 days 7. halve over hot rice, spoon on extra marinade, watch the yolk do its thing 🤌 #mayakeggs #koreanfood #eggrecipe #mealprep #EasyRecipes
