the japan 7/11 onigiri i still think about… i used to grab two of these every morning in japan and eat them on the train. the wrapper trick is why the nori stays crispy. i have these wrappers linked in my bio if you’re interested in trying them! 🍚 2 cups short-grain rice, cooked 🧂 1 tsp salt 🍶 2 tsp rice vinegar 🫒 2 tsp neutral oil 🐟 2 cans tuna, drained hard 🥚 4 tbsp kewpie mayo 🌶️ 1½ tbsp sriracha 🍯 ½ tsp sugar 🥢 1 tsp soy sauce 🌰 1 tsp sesame oil ⚪ 1 tsp sesame seeds 🟢 8 onigiri wrappers 1. season the hot rice with the salt, vinegar and oil — fold, don't stir 2. spread it out and cool completely 3. drain the tuna hard, then mix with everything else 4. taste it saltier and spicier than you think it needs 5. open a wrapper flat, set your mold on top, wet the mold 6. fill a third with rice 7. filling in the center, away from the edges 8. more rice on top to cover 9. press to the line, lift the mold away 10. fold the top sheet down, bottom sheet up, sticker to seal 11. 4 in the fridge, 4 in the freezer same day 12. pull tabs 1, 2, 3 to open #onigiri #konbini #mealprep #japanesefood #lunchideas
