didn't know about the Iraq War part three. No. The military covered up Pat Tillman's death because they didn't want the public or his family to know that he died from friendly fire. Technically Pat Tillman died in Afghanistan, but his first deployment was to Iraq, and then his second deployment was to one of the most dangerous spots in Afghanistan. Apparently, what happened that day was his convoy was going through some dangerous canyons when one of their vehicles broke down. So they ended up getting split up into two units. His unit went ahead and his little brother is actually behind. Pat's unit made it to the top of a ridge, waiting for the second unit to make it up. Explosion, then gunshots. So they thought the second unit was under fire, so they ran back to the ridge to help. Now, it's never been confirmed actually at anyone shooting at the second unit. It may have just been a misfire from one unit, but they started every direction, basically panicking. And when the first unit showed up to help, the second unit saw was actually on their side, and he was holding an AK-47. So they shot him eight times in the chest and all of them continued apparently, yelling, Pat, why are you shooting at us? But they didn't hear it. Apparently, but he ended up getting shot three times in the forehead. This come later, autopsy immediately incident, the higher-ups were telling them like, you're not allowed to talk about this. We're going to investigate, but we're going to tell the public that he died from enemy fire. Official, he was trying to save his convoy during a heavy fight with the enemy, and he ran up a ridge and was shot. This was a great story for the military to sell as well, inspirational. Four days after his death, he was awarded a Silver Star by a three-star general who knew that the real story that he died from friendly fire, that award for during enemy, fighting with the enemy. So they sold that story to the public and they bought it. But it wasn't until the coroner refused to sign off on report, when corner decided not to sign off on the papers because he said it didn't line up with an attack because he had been shot in the forehead three times together, that he thought was from an M16 within 10 yards. The military had a back pedal and they came back and said that he died by accident when they were fighting the enemy. Couple friendly fire. Crazy. All the generals and the military and even the president, which was President Bush, was sent a memo to speak lightly just in case out from want looking that memo ended up getting them caught in Supreme Court, but they never because all of them said that they didn't remember getting that memo.
