Budget with me! As a senior account director working in tech sales in London. Someone recently said that the rise in salary transparency online is for entertainment purposes. But I don't share this to entertain. I share this because I think money is a taboo topic in far too many communities I intersect with. Women, black people, British people. And I am being the change that I want to see. So without further ado, let's get into it. My net pay this month was £11,718. £11,718 pounds. Bear in mind this is after my pension salary sacrifice and all of my taxes. So let's start with fixed expenses. The first being rent, which is £650 pounds. I then spent £63 pounds on life insurance and £46 pounds on critical illness insurance. My phone bill is £28 pounds and my phone insurance is £10 pounds. I then have a gym membership which is £22 pounds and subscriptions including Apple, Spotify and Google Photos which sum to £27 pounds. And lastly, my egg-freezing storage costs which are £33 pounds. So that brings my fixed expenses to £878. Now, let's get into the variable expenses. Yay! Starting with the biggest variable expense, which is my credit card. I have a £2,000 pound credit card bill. I'll be honest, my spending has been absolutely wild and clearly I could do with better budgeting. So from September, I'm gonna commit to doing not only budget videos, but also what I spend in a month videos because I actually need to track my budget a bit better. The next variable expense is transport, which I spend about £400 pounds because I commute into the office twice a week and it costs me £45 pounds each time. Then I'm budgeting £200 pounds for beauty and skincare because this is a month where I need to stock up a little bit more on my goodies. Therapy is £203 pounds. Need that. Hey. And I'm giving myself a little bit more for eating and entertainment this month, which hopefully is enough. I am also going on holiday this month, which I am so excited about. So £500 pounds I have put aside for that. And actually, a large part of my credit card bill was because I shopped a lot for the holiday. So again, in line with giving myself a bit more of a realistic budget, I am allocating £230 pounds to shopping this month. I also have a very special family member coming my way. So for gifts, I am putting £400 pounds aside this month. Which leaves me with a whopping £6,400 pounds that is going towards my 100k saving goal. And that's it. A big paycheck, a big spending month, but also a big saving month.
