Disturbing facts about human psychology. There is a psychological term called The Call Of The Void, which is a psychological phenomena referring to the sudden and intrusive thoughts of doing something extremely dangerous, harmful, despite having no desire to do so. An example would be standing in a very high place, such as a rooftop, a building top, a cliff or a tower, anywhere high, extremely high, where you can see the ground below you, and suddenly having the urge and feeling to jump. Or when you're driving and then suddenly imagining that you swerved into traffic or somewhere that could kill you. Or looking into deep water, knowing that you can't swim, and you suddenly ask yourself, what if I swam to the bottom? Or holding a baby and having the fleeting thought about dropping them. These thoughts are far more common than you realise, and you probably had these thoughts yourself. The most important thing from this is because you have these thoughts, it does not mean you want to act on them. There's a quote in psychology that goes along the lines of the vast majority of people who have a fear of heights, fear so not because they will fall, but because their fear is that they might jump. Stay safe.
