these are my honest thoughts on the a5 cousin for hobonichi it started off really good. i had a lot of plans and ideas for the journal but over time i noticed because of its size it was not as portable for me. i carry a lot of things generally already because i create content and i do videography and art on the side as well. it becomes quite bulky to carry. at some point i had to ask myself: i might as well put most things in my weeks and then recently i started migrating some of my thoughts over to the a6. i found that the a6 was very easy to carry around and because i carried it around with me all the time, i was more likely to journal in it. don't get me wrong. i think the a5 right now for what it's worth is a great commonplace journal to put all your thoughts in one place and then to refer back to. i do feel as though it's becoming more of a task to open it up to use it because of how much i feel compelled to fill in it. let me know if you had the same thoughts. i'd be interested to hear what you think #stationerytalk #journals #hobonichi

As a Hobonichi Weeks fanboy, I don't know if I'll be getting the A5 cousin next year. Just because this is a lot of space. This was the 2024 version and as you can see I don't think I use it that much. Just feel like it's quite intimidating. Maybe it's like I haven't gotten to the habit of it and I still haven't. For me the A6 has been really good because I can carry this around everywhere. So there's no excuse not to write in it. If there's a thought if I'm recounting a day, it's actually really easy to backtrack and I just think it's because of the size. Genuine like genuinely speaking. The Weeks has been really good. It's been a great place to keep all my appointments, everything that I need to get sorted. Um my to do list as well. It's not a journal necessarily but it's kind of where I keep my thoughts. It houses my reading journal. So this is a little travellers notebook insert. Right now I'm reading John Steinbeck's East of Eden. So I've just got a couple of notes in here and it's great to separate it because I carry this everywhere that I go. 1 to plan everything, 2 to journal and this system has been perfect. I don't think there's any other system that can beat this. Right now even as a common place journal, I am kind of trying to figure out what is the best way to utilise the cousin. Like I've got this cousin that I kind of touch occasionally. I love her. She's beautiful, but I kind of need to have the inspiration to use the A5. Um and with the Hobonichi preview coming up, I just want everyone to kind of think about what were their usage habits last time. There's a lot on the market now. We have Aura Estelle, we have obviously the Midoris. We also have The Paper Republic leather journals that have been viral on TikTok recently. So I kind of want you guys to think about if it's not this system that's working for you and the Hobonichi is not for everyone. Maybe it's another system. So before you get kind of like sucked into the new beautiful designs that they're releasing for next year, something to think about in my opinion.
