Great resignation is completely gone and we're now in one of the toughest job markets we've ever seen. It's arguably tougher than the job market in 2008 during the Great Recession. It's gotten so bad that 39% of people have completely given up even looking for something new. The labor participation rate is at 61%, which is the lowest since the pandemic. If you are in the job market, you're gonna have to apply to hundreds and thousands of jobs. You're gonna get ghosted completely by recruiters and you're gonna find yourself in really long interview like 5 rounds, 6 rounds, 7 rounds. I'm even hearing about people go through 9 or 10 rounds of interviews. The processes are getting way longer. So instead of it being a couple of weeks, in 2021 at the height of the Great Resignation, now it's months and months of interviews. And if you're the lucky person who gets a job offer, don't expect to get anything near what you're targeting. Whatever you're targeting, you're gonna get lowballed. And that's because companies know if you don't take their job, they have five people who gladly will. That's how bad the job market in 2026 has got. And it doesn't look like it's getting better anytime soon.
