$120K remote or $240K in office?

Well, it's official. A 120K remote job is better than a 240K a year job in the office. And here's why. When you actually break down the cost of going into an office, you only end up earning about $10,000 more, even though you're getting double the salary. And here's the full breakdown for the remote job. Okay? At 28% at 120K, which would break about $33,000. Then you got the home office, internet, utilities at about three grand, uh, of companies will actually cover. So I should probably give some of that money back. On the other hand, going into the office at 240K. You have extremely high taxes at a higher tax bracket, which come out to about 93K. You've got your rent being downtown, so you're kinda closer to the commute that will add another 24K. You have extra childcare now that you have to take care of, which is 15K. You got the commute and parking, which is 6K. You've got lunch and coffee that you gotta provide everyday, which is 5K. Then you even gotta think about wardrobe, which, hey, let's say around 3,500. So when you actually break it down, there's only a 10,000 dollar difference. But let's break this down a little bit more. You also have to consider the time that it takes to commute. And let's say it's a 45 minute commute, and an hour and a half to two hours each day. Commuting in, that's 10 hours a week. That means if you're actually working 60 hours. So then you can break it down to an hourly rate. You don't have that remote position where you're working the same amount. So if you actually, the hourly rate, you get $41.70 working remotely and you only make $41.51 going into the office, even though the salary is double.
