If I'm a 9-to-5 employee and I know nothing about investing, this is how I was starting investing with just $50. Step one, open an account. The qualifications for a taxable brokerage account are 18+ years old, have a social security number, and choose a brokerage. My favorite brokerage companies to work with are either Fidelity or Robinhood. Step two, add money to account. So on payday, you get a paycheck. This paycheck gets deposited and transferred into your investment account. Once the money settles here, you want to transfer and deposit $50 into your investment account from Fidelity or Robinhood. Step three, buy fractional shares. So let's say the current Apple stock costs $305. Instead of spending $305 on one share, invest $50. Your piece = $50 / $305 = 0.17 share. So your piece of the pie is $50, which is what you decide to invest out of your pocket, divided by the entire cost of one share, which is $305. And that comes out to be 0.17 share. And that's how you start investing with just $50.
