What does a portfolio even look like if you aren't a creative? Welcome to Portfolio 101. Today we're talking about how the portfolio works when it isn't visual. First up, if you can solve a problem, you're already creative. If you can solve a problem, strategize a fix, or work out why something isn't working, you're already most people picture a portfolio as a visual format and for untraditional creative roles, it just takes a different shape. Built from process and outcomes instead of images. Start by picking three or four things that you've worked on. It can be a campaign or some sort of project with a clear before and after. Write up each one as a short case study covering what was the problem, what you did, and the final result. You'll still use screenshots, they'll just be a different kind. A before and after, a spreadsheet you built from scratch, a doc or framework other people ended up using, recording of you walking through a presentation or through your logic on somewhere you got somewhere. If the project came with an NDA, strip out anything confidential before you share it, like numbers or client names. This kind of way of showcasing your work does more on a resume ever could. When a hiring manager can see your process directly, reading a summary that's real edge over everyone who hasn't bothered to do it. And if you want to start building yours, you can join us at the link in bio.
