If you have an American Express you have a 30% transfer bonus to British Airways, Iberia, and Aer Lingus running until the end of September. Here's a step by step guide on how you'll take advantage of these bonuses to save thousands of points and thousands of dollars. We're starting with Iberia. Step 1. Create your Iberia Plus account at iberia.com. Use your legal name exactly as it appears on your Amex. Date of birth has to match too or the link fails. Step 2. Link Iberia Plus to your Amex account. In the Amex app: Membership Rewards → Redeem Rewards → Transfer Points → find Iberia Plus → add your Iberia membership number. One time setup. Step 3. Find the seat before you transfer anything. Search on iberia.com, choose "Pay with Avios," and use flexible dates. You're hunting off-peak, which is mostly January through March and October through November. Step 4. Transfer only what that ticket needs. Same Transfer Points screen. Minimum 1,000 points, moving in 1,000 point increments. The 30% is built into the ratio, so 1,000 Amex points lands as 1,300 Avios. Transfers are instant and permanent, which is why you find the seat first. Step 5. Book it. JFK to Madrid looks like this. ✅ 16,000 Avios each way | 32,000 round trip ✅ Off-peak Economy Basic, nonstop on Iberia ✅ Without the bonus: 32,000 Amex points ✅ With the bonus: 25,000 Amex points ✅ 7,000 points back in your pocket on one round trip Same seat.
