🚨 New Flock Camera Spotted Near Franklin Park A new Flock automated license plate reader (ALPR) has been installed at the corner of Chestnut and Stanley Blvd, facing toward Franklin Park in Yakima. Flock cameras are designed to capture license plates and vehicle characteristics, along with the time and location of each detection. 📜 Earlier this year, Washington lawmakers passed Senate Bill 6002, establishing new rules for government use of automated license plate readers. The law places restrictions on how ALPR data can be collected, used, retained and shared, including restrictions involving elementary and secondary schools. 🏫 Franklin Middle School serves students in grades 6–8 and is located near the area where this camera was installed. There is no specific distance requirement in the law saying an ALPR must be a certain number of feet from a school. Instead, SB 6002 restricts the collection of ALPR data on school premises and their immediate surroundings and access points. The camera's exact placement and field of view are worth documenting as Yakima continues expanding its Flock camera network. #Yakima #Washington #PNW #FlockSafety #surveillance
