🚨 SWAT Standoff Ends With Suspect Found at Creek 📍 Union Gap, WA — 8/17/26 A police standoff began around 11:27 a.m. at Meadowlands Estates near 5th Avenue and Ahtanum Road after a son reported that his father had assaulted him and threatened him with a knife. 👮 Officers responded and developed probable cause for an assault. The father then went back inside the home, and the situation escalated. 🚔 SWAT and additional officers responded, and police believed the suspect was barricaded inside the residence. Officers applied for a search warrant before entering. ⏳ Several hours later, SWAT moved in with a flashbang and final warning. Officers checked the home, but the suspect wasn't there. 🐕 A K9 was brought in to track his trail. The K9 followed the trail from the property into the field behind Ahtanum Youth Park and eventually to a creek. 🌊 The father was found near the water and surrendered peacefully with the K9 present. From the initial call around 11:27 a.m. to approximately 5 p.m., the incident kept officers on scene for several hours — with the suspect ultimately being located away from the home. 📸 Photos from the scene are posted separately. #Yakima #Washington #PNW #SWAT #police
