My iPhone was hot, slow, and lagging on everything. I was already pricing out a new one. A repair shop owner took it, swiped through four screens, and handed it back. "Your phone is fine. Four settings are choking it. I see them every day." Here is what he changed: He said most people blame the hardware when the phone slows down after a year or two. It is almost never the hardware. It is a handful of settings quietly running every app in the background at once, with no room left to breathe. He started with the worst one. Setting 1: Background App Refresh. Settings > General > Background App Refresh. Every app here keeps updating itself even when closed, eating memory and heat all day. Turn it off, or leave it on only for messaging and maps. This was his single biggest change. Setting 2: Location Services running for everything. Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services. Most apps do not need your location at all, yet they ping it constantly in the background. Set each one to While Using or Never. Maps and weather can stay. Setting 3: Live widgets. Every widget on your home screen refreshes its data on a loop. A screen full of them keeps the phone working nonstop. He deleted all but two. Long press the home screen, tap the minus on the widgets you never actually read. Setting 4: Heavy animations. Settings > Accessibility > Motion > turn on Reduce Motion. The zoom and slide effects look nice but make an older phone strain to render every tap. With this on, the phone feels instantly snappier. He called it the free speed upgrade. Then two quick ones he did before handing it back. Free up storage. iOS needs at least 10 percent free to run well. Settings > General > iPhone Storage, clear the biggest offenders. Update every app. Old versions are often the ones lagging. Last thing. He held the power button and restarted it in front of me. Most people never turn their phone off. A restart clears the memory and kills stuck background processes. Do it once a week. The phone was cool and fast by the time I left. My phone was never dying. Four settings were running it into the ground. Most people replace a perfectly good phone over this. Take five minutes before you spend a thousand dollars. Then send this to whoever keeps saying their phone is old. If you try all these things and your phone is still hanging, lagging, you know, giving issues then you honestly need a new phone. If I buy a new phone, I could tell you I will inform you. But I think with this, you can also do it on your Android. If you're watching this video, I'm sure it is going to work. Yeah. Try this. And let me know in the comment section, okay? I'll see you in the next one.
