Meeting tax. Let's do it. I made a few notes in my notebook here and uh, yeah, let's go. So meeting tax is essentially the hidden cost of meetings that occurs beyond just sitting in the room that it's occurring. So if there's like five people that have spent time in a meeting, it's not just the one hour that's been lost, it's actually five hours and this is even before we think about preparation, context switching, or even focusing afterwards. And this is important because, you know, meetings can create the illusion of productivity just because our calendars look full, everyone is busy. But the outcome can be surprisingly low. So before accepting or scheduling a meeting, I think we should consider asking ourselves three questions. Firstly, is that meeting needed? Does everybody need to attend and can the outcome be reached in 15 minutes via a shared document or even an email? Because I think the important thing here to note is that productivity is not about just filling or occupying your time, it's about choosing to occupy your time with activities that actually move the needle forward.
