Open loops Let's see what we get Open loops Let's go I performed five minutes of research. I have some notes here and let's start the one minute timer. So one reason you might be feeling overwhelmed is because when you're not actively working towards something, it's known as something called as open loops. So open loops are essentially unfinished tasks, unresolved decisions, or commitments that your brain is essentially attempting to retain. And this is linked to something called the Zygonic effect. Um, it's the psychological tendency for incomplete tasks to remain more cognitively salient than completed ones. And so for my experience in consulting, we would never leave an action or a plan without a clear owner and a next step or a deadline. And I think we should all be treating our personal life with the same discipline because at the end of each day, conduct almost an open loop audit where you write everything down that is unresolved, define what the next concrete steps are, and either choose when to complete it, schedule it, or consciously remove it. Because the important thing here is that mental clarity doesn't come from finishing everything. It comes from knowing exactly what is happening next and what you're supposed to be working on next. I think we did well.
