Promoted product
Whatnot
Why it worked
The creator successfully combines a popular seasonal interest with a clear, relatable problem (sold-out items) and provides a specific, high-value solution (getting them for half price on Whatnot), making the promotion feel like a helpful tip rather than a forced ad.
Summary
The creator shares her excitement for spooky season and shows off a haul of Tiny Nightmares Fright Face plushies she purchased. She explains that she used the Whatnot app to find the items after they were sold out elsewhere and highlights the significant discount she received.
Structure
- 1Creator introduces her love for spooky season
- 2Explains difficulty finding the plushies in stores
- 3Reveals she found them on Whatnot
- 4Compares retail price to Whatnot price
- 5Shows off the collection
- 6Directs viewers to Whatnot for deals
Product placement
(a) Whatnot ACTS: the creator explains she used it to find and purchase the specific blind boxes she wanted after they were sold out in stores, and she explicitly compares the retail price to the Whatnot price, demonstrating its value proposition as a marketplace for deals. Removing it would change the video's core narrative about how she acquired these items for half price. (b) CapCut appears as a watermark in the caption; removing it would not change the video.
