As a nutritionist, one thing I really wish more people knew is that sandwiches are probably one of the healthiest lunches you can possibly choose. Because not only are they super cheap and easy to make, they're also really easy to pack full of vital nutrients. Especially if you choose a quality bread. Today my choice is Tip Top Digestive Health, and I've chosen the wholemeal variant. Because not only is it super high in fibre, which is good for your digestive health. Choosing a wholemeal variant also helps us reach our daily goal of whole grain servings, which is four to six servings. One slice of wholemeal bread equals one serving. So I'm getting two servings right here, just for my sandwich. It's also really easy to load up on healthy fats, like some cheese, or some avocado or tahini. They're also really easy to pack full of veggies. Today I'm using some tomato, a bit of red onion, and a really good pinch of alfalfa sprouts. And lastly, we can load it up with protein as well, which I'm using ham today. But you could use chicken, you could use tuna, you could use tofu. The options are endless. Sandwiches are incredibly customisable. They're also loaded with nutrients that our body really needs. So next time you feel like just a sandwich, remember how good they are for your digestive health.
