Hi, I'm Chelsea. I own The Drifter Coffee in South Carolina. I've been teaching you how to make your homemade syrups, and I know I've promised everybody fall flavors, and they're finally here. So we're going to start with everybody's favorite, a pumpkin spice syrup. I've got half a cup of pumpkin puree. I'm going to add a cup of sugar and a cup of water to that. Add in two teaspoons of ground cinnamon, half a teaspoon of ground ginger, a quarter teaspoon of ground nutmeg, and then just 1/8 teaspoon of ground cloves. Combine this well and bring it to a simmer. Let this simmer for about five minutes, but make sure that you're whisking it pretty often. This smells like Thanksgiving. I'm going to remove this from the heat before I add my vanilla. Now that it's cooled down, I'm going to add in one teaspoon of vanilla. Make sure you are using pure vanilla extract, not the fake stuff. This next step is preference, but I always strain my syrups. Anytime we make syrups with anything that's perishable, like fruits or milk or pumpkin, for example, we keep them in these containers so that they stay in our fridge, unlike these guys who stay on our countertop. So we'll label this and we'll put it in the fridge for one week, if it lasts that long.
