Ever wonder what that random brick tower on the A470 near Taff's Well actually is? 🚂💥 It isn’t an old factory chimney. It’s the Jubilee Pillar—the indestructible last piece of the 1,500ft Walnut Tree Viaduct, built in 1901 to haul Welsh coal to Barry Docks. When the viaduct was demolished in 1969, this 120ft pillar was literally too tough to blow up, so engineers had to leave it behind! Add in some sneaky locals, late-night paint jobs for Queen Elizabeth’s Jubilees, and 120 years of history, and you’ve got one of South Wales’ best road-trip secrets. Next time you’re stuck in traffic, you’ll know! Have you ever noticed this driving past? Let me know in the comments! 👇 #WelshHistory #A470 #TaffsWell #jubilee #jayceecharles
