A Welsh army literally burned this place to the ground 600 years ago. And today, thousands of people just drive right past it without even noticing it. Castell Casnewydd / Newport Castle. Back in the 1300s, the English built this massive fortress right on the riverbank to control trade and keep the local Welsh down. But back in 1402, Owain Glyndŵr had other plans. His army marched right down here and stormed those walls and violently set the entire thing ablaze. But if you look right down at the mud below the middle tower, you can see this incredible archway. That's a medieval watergate. And when the tide come up the river, warships and cargo boats sailed inside the castle walls to unload supplies. Today, it's completely trapped by a highway and a train line. But it's a living reminder of the fight for Wales. Don't just drive past our history, hit follow for the next stop.
