and standing near a bridge that shouldn't exist right now. Normally, this bridge is buried under 15 meters of water at the bottom of a reservoir. This is Llwyn-on Reservoir in the Brecon Beacons. And when the water drops this low, the modern world rolls back and history literally walks back out of the mud. This bridge you're looking at hasn't seen the sun properly in years. Before the valley was flooded in the 1920s to feed water down to Cardiff, people walked these exact paths and crossed this river. You're looking at the old bones of the Taf Fawr valley that were meant to be hidden. And when the rain comes, the Brecon Beacons swallows itself back up. How often can you say that you get to walk the bottom of a lake? I'm exploring the most incredible historical spots in Wales. So make sure you follow and come along for the ride.

Beneath millions of gallons of water lies a drowned Welsh village... 🌊 When Llwyn-on Reservoir was constructed back in 1911 to supply water to a rapidly growing Cardiff, the entire valley hamlet of Ynysyfelin down in Cwm Taf was flooded. Farms, roads, and centuries of local history vanished under the surface as the valley filled. Today, Llwyn-on is one of the most scenic spots along the A470—but whenever water levels drop during dry summers, remnants of old stone walls, foundations, and the original valley bridge re-emerge from the depths as a quiet reminder of what used to be here.
