Hook
In your 20s, you're going to learn that losing the person that you thought that you were going to marry isn't the end of your life. Instead, it's the plot twist that actually saves you. But when you're in it, you don't see it clearly. See the signs. Know that something's not right, that this is not going to be sustainable long term. But you love them so much that you were willing to settle. You're willing to overlook certain things, you're willing to justify it. The way that they would get angry and they take it out on you, the way that their stress became your problem. You normalize it and you allow that behavior to pass because you love them. But deep down, you knew. When a relationship ends, you're not just losing the person, you're losing the future that you thought that you had. Because when you're together, everything is no longer you, it's us. It's our future, it's our life. And that's hard, but you also need to remember that you were a person before you ever knew that they existed. And as time starts to pass, you need to start to fill up your own cup again. You start to feel like you. You start to actually see how much things that you were just tolerating and accepting and calling it love, how much of your own life and your own happiness and things that you wanted that you put on the back burner because you were with them. Because your focus was them and what the relationship needed for it to survive. And one day, you might not see it now, but one day you will wake up and realize that that breakup didn't ruin you. In fact, it saved you. Made room for a whole entirely new future that you were meant to have.
