My photography has changed a lot over the years. And so has the way I run my business. Over the past 10 years, I've become a lot more intentional about how I manage all of it. For me, this looks a lot like keeping up with everything from studio rentals to subscriptions to buying backdrops and equipment and then also paying the different people involved in my shoots. And having a better idea of these costs makes it so much easier to plan for the shoots I want to do next. Xero is a financial management platform for small businesses, and it's what I've been using to keep all of that information together in one place. I use their dashboard to see my income and expenses together, so I know what I have to work with and can plan my next shoot accordingly. So as I'm putting together my next shoot, I'm able to be a lot more realistic about what I want to prioritize and where I can put my money into. And those little changes have transformed the way I work day to day. And it's really how I've been able to make photography my full-time career and set myself up to do it for years to come.
