We're a chocolate company and we get this question all the time Why did you guys choose to manufacture yourselves? Isn't there a cheaper, easier way to do this? Can't you just outsource manufacturing? Honestly, I WISH the answer was that easy We went to go see 26 different contract manufacturers... And not 1 of them we're capable of making the product The reason why it's so hard Is that we make this double layered stack Where it's like a super hard top To a super soft bottom And believe it or not... Nobody was able to make that And so I think when you're in one of these situations like Mid-Day Squares, Where you have this super straight vision of what you want to bring to the market And nobody's capable of making that, Then you've got to ask yourself: Do you want to quit? Or are you going to figure out another way? We chose something very difficult Well I say "we" but really it was my wife that chose it to be honest After deciding on whether or not we were going to quit on the vision She said "Well if nobody can make it, Why don't we just build a manufacturing plant?" Like as if that's like a normal thing to say "Of yeah, let's just build a $10 million manufacturing plant" But the honest truth was... She wasn't crazy We looked at ourselves and said: "If we're going to go out and win, in the hardest, most saturated market in the world, It probably makes sense to own our innovation And if we get it right, And we own the manufacturing plant Not only are we going to be able to do it cheaper than everybody else, But we're going to be in full control of the process from A-Z" So we chose to go the manufacturing route and that's not for everybody But if you have an innovation, and you want to see it come to life... You just outsourced manufacturing. And honestly, I wish the answer was that easy. We went to go see 26 different contract manufacturers and not one of them were capable of making the product. The reason why it's so hard is that we make this double-layer stack where it's like a super hard top to a super soft bottom and believe it or not, nobody was able to make that. And so I think when you're in one of these like Wednesday squares where you have this like super straight vision of what you want to bring to the market and nobody's capable of making that, then you got to ask yourself, do you want to quit or are you going to figure out another way?
