I found what is quite possibly the most peaceful hike in the DMV which we paired with the trip to a dog friendly Vineyard with generous pours and Ben and Jerry's. It does not get better than that. Head to Seneca Creek State Park where parking is $6 and you'll easily find the trail that circles beautiful Clopper Lake. The trail is super flat, shaded and best of all not crowded. Ah we love that. It took us 2 hours to hike just under 4 miles and I'd say it's a pretty easy little hike. We went on a 90 degree day and honestly it did not feel crazy hot because virtually all the trail is shaded and there's such a nice breeze coming off the lake. You can also rent kayaks and row boats for $12 an hour. Inflation we don't know her. Heads up that they found harmful algae in the water so just be sure to keep your furry friends out. After our hike we rewarded ourselves and drove 15 minutes to Windridge Vineyard. We got a flight and they really hooked a girl up okay. They also have food trucks posted up with barbecue, burgers and duh gotta have the Ben and Jerry's. They post their daily food trucks on their website. This spot isn't crowded and has plenty of shaded areas for you and your furry friend. Even my very anxious dog had a good time here. Save this for the next time you want to escape the city.
