On-screen text
welcome to my series hiking in Cincinnati
where Rocky and I check out local trails
and tell you if they're worth the visit
our first stop is Redbird Hollow
in the village of Indian Hill
the trail is about two miles one
way and follows a wide gravel
path
Rocky and I ended up only
walking three and a half miles
because we turned around
before we've reached the end
and the hike took us about an
hour and 15 minutes
this is a very easy trail with
almost no elevation gain
making it perfect for a casual
walk
the path follows Redbird
Hollow Creek
and there are several side
trails that lead down to the
water
during our hike
we saw families playing in the
creek and people searching
for fossils
one thing you should know
before visiting
is a lot of people walk their
dogs off leash here
Rocky is very friendly and
doesn't mind dogs running up
to him
but if your dog isn't
comfortable with this
this may not be the trail for
you
the trail follows the route of an
old railway
that operated here over 100
years ago
it's a protected nature
preserve and a peaceful
escape into the woods
if you're looking for an easy
scenic hike near Cincinnati
Redbird Hollow is definitely
worth checking out
