Another question that I'm still asked to this day in my interviews that you'll probably be asked as a junior PM or an associate PM or you know normal product manager is give me a situation where you had to prioritize one feature over another and tell me why you prioritize that one feature over the other and so there are a lot of different variations on this question but really what it's asking you is how did you use data to inform that decision of that one feature over the other and how did you validate that with your customer and so the way that I start by answering this question is you know I go over like sort of what the prioritization frameworks that I typically use are um and that serves as a baseline right so I'll typically say like so first step is I use a prioritization framework called rice and what rice stands for if you're not familiar I have a whole blog post on this so you can go check that out in the link in my bio but what right stands for is reach impact confidence and effort right so how many customers do you expect to reach what is the impact to our business what is the confidence that we can deliver that feature and then effort level so what is the level of effort that will take to develop this feature and so one of the reasons why I love the Rice Score is because it allows you to very easily at a bird's eye view just glance you know if you ever have to make a prioritization decision quickly it gives you those numbers to to make that decision you know that much quicker so so if you're in sprint planning or like backlog grooming and then and your team is like oh we only have capacity to work on you know one or two of these stories right if everything has that score you can quickly just sort of look at all right what's the what's the highest score all right let's prioritize that um and then you know I can level set with the customer or whatever on the rest of those features that aren't gonna make it right we we could go into more prioritization frameworks later so yeah rice is one way that you could use to help you prioritize these features and so in the next video I'll go over a situation that I use to answer the question
