Today it's announcing the close of $35 million in Series B* funding, a mix of equity ($25 million) and debt. The smart ring startup is a less familiar name than category veteran - and market leader - Oura. But founder Mohit Kumar tells TechCrunch he sees a route to snatching the No.1 position from the U.S. rival - in as little as 12 to 15 months, by his reckoning. Currently Ultranuman believes its smart ring sits in second place versus sales of Oura. The new funding is... on the gas. "Oura is the number one right now, globally," he says. "With the number of units in the last 12 months we have got into being the second largest globally. But at the current run date we feel that we should be able to cross them in the next 12 to 15 months. So to ensure that we actually cross them ... we are raising a little bit of growth capital."
