I'm going to walk you through the pitch deck of a startup that raised $46 million in stealth. Investors in this $46 million round, that's actually across two rounds, include my firm, Baukunst, and my partner, Axel, is on the deal, as well as Redpoint, Greenburg, and Capital G. So, let's get into the slide-by-slide breakdown. First of all, this deck is 30 pages long. It does not follow any of the conventions of of good deck design, and I think that is pretty interesting. Slide 1: title slide. Slide 2: deck summary. Slide 2 is a very dense summary of basically what's in the entire deck, which I've never seen before, but it kind of works. Slide 3: why now. It's an outline of how the world is evolving today, the major why now. And then slides 4-5 are evidence that the incumbent tools are not evolving. Then we get into slide 6, which is user discontent. So, how the outdated tools are causing the users of those tools to be unhappy. Then in slide 7, there are four key challenges of the incumbent companies listed. And then in slides 8-11, each slide is dedicated to one of those challenges, why it's hard, what's happening, so you really understand what's broken. Then we get into slide 12, which is introducing the solution, which is Motif, this company. And what's interesting is we're on slide 12. We haven't even talked about what they're doing until now. So it's pretty late in the game. Slide 13, we look at one slide that lists four key things that Motif is doing differently. And then in slides 14-17, we each have a dedicated slide for one of those four things. So really here's what makes us different in a very kind of measured way. Then in slide 18, really showing how the technical complexity is extremely high, and how we're going to figure it out essentially, which is a little bit of a why us. Then slide 19, it's a very clear phased execution plan from sounding through year six and beyond that's very much focused on product and tech, because in this industry, if you don't get product and tech right, nothing else matters. Slides 20-24, it shows that, okay, if we get all that right, what are the end products that we're going to be able to deliver, including some mockups of what they would look like. And then in slides 25-26, it talks about the design partners that Motive is working with, as well as the feedback that they've been giving. And then slide 27, there's a team slide, and it looks really different than other team slides. It's actually the entire team and a little circle for each person. The co-founders, there are four co-founders, are no bigger than the rest of the team. And while this is highly unusual, it also really follows the ethos that I know about this team and about this CEO. They are incredibly humble and they really believe in the team. So it's just interesting to see that reflected in the design. And then in slide 28, it's kind of just the last slide before a multi-slide appendix. So, this is incredibly interesting to see. Motive just came out of stealth and it's starting to talk about what they're doing. Check it out. We're so excited to be investors in this business, and it was awesome of Amar to share the deck and let me walk through it with you slide by slide. So, hope you learned something. I know I did.
