how to get the MOST pigment out of your eyeshadow

Oh my gosh, your eyeshadow is so pigmented. What eyeshadow do you use? It's not the eyeshadow, it's the technique. If you watch me swatch this on my hand with my finger and a brush, you might think this eyeshadow is trash, but my eyes tell a different story. First of all, if you skip priming your eyes because you think it's a small step that won't make a big difference, that's like not seasoning your food before you cook it. Make sure to always prime your eyes and blend out with a brush or your finger until it's just very slightly tacky. Moving on to the eyeshadow, you want a flat dense packing brush, preferably with natural bristles. You're going to tap that into the eyeshadow and really get those bristles coated and then tap off the excess. And then slowly tap that onto the eyelid like this. Yes, it's faster to use these swiping or brushing motions, but that's not going to do anything for you in terms of pigment. Finally, the part a lot of people miss, it is totally normal to dip back into the color multiple times because most eyeshadows are supposed to be buildable. And especially if you're a beginner, buildable eyeshadows are going to be way easier to work with. Just because an eyeshadow doesn't have crazy pigment when you swatch it at first, doesn't mean it's a bad eyeshadow. You just need to learn how to use it.
