Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales are coming up, which when a lot of brainwash consumers get tricked into spending way too much money. And the thing is, I love shopping too, but I'm Chinese, so I actually know what a good deal is. So I'm gonna share with you guys my ranking of different types of deals and how I use it to decide if I should spend my hard earned money on something. Starting with the standard X percent off sale. I feel like this is pretty straightforward. 40% off at the top and then just down from there. I feel like anything below 30% off is kind of useless. Even 30% off is only for something I really want or was gonna buy anyway. Free gift with purchase. You should never be spending more money just so you can get this free gift with purchase. And if you do, then you're stupid. 40% off BOGO free. I put this in the same tier as 40% off. Buy one get one free. Since the free item is always gonna be of equal or lesser value, the best case scenario is 25% off your total. But it's still a pretty good deal. Just don't get that second item if you don't want it. BOGO 50% off. Buy more, save more sale. You know, like these sales where the more you spend, the greater percentage off you get. These were designed to get you to buy more shit so you can reach that next tier of deal. Again, it's not a deal if you don't actually want the things you're originally planning to buy and take whatever discount you get. 10% off, free shipping. This one's whatever to me. I feel like most sites you can get free shipping minimum with just like two or three items. But if you really need it, then it's nice to have. And finally, we have like 2x/3x rewards points. Again, you shouldn't be spending money just to get extra rewards points. But if you were gonna spend the money anyway, you shouldn't do it without activating whatever rewards points you have. Listen, I'm not the most frugal person in the world. But the way I see a lot of people spending their money really freaks me out. So this is just the system that I use when I'm shopping.
