Cor is in session. I have something very important to share, breathless by Dr. Toly Lando, right there, a well-known collection of mine. And this is in some ways a memo, in some ways a short story format. In a lot of ways just really good storytelling about a lot of different patients that she has taken care of um in sort of an anecdote format. Um there are about 20 some chapters in here. All of them, a different anecdote, um learning points, um things just about how she navigated taking care of these patients. There are a lot of feel good stories, but there are also some heart-breaking stories in here as well. And what I will say is after having read a lot of memoirs by doctors or medical memoirs, medical autobiographies, um all of which have, you know, a different role to play. One consistent theme that sort of started to jaded me uh towards them was that there was a lot of self-agrandisement um in these memoirs and this could not be further from that. Um Dr. Orlando has so much humility uh sharing these stories and I think that's a really important part of medical care to uh have public to be public facing uh because you know, at the end of the day, doctors are humans. Um and not to say that people are making mistakes, but it's not all sunshine and rainbows um in medical care as we all know. And I think it's really important to share those stories as well. because it not only sheds light and pays respect to these situations and these patients, but it also helps others going through um similar situations feel less alone and that is not just in medicine, but at the heart of storytelling, I feel like uh what drives a lot of people to do to share these stories. And so, you know, there was one point in here that I actively cried um it is about it is a story about heaven. Uh a patient named heaven, but they're I I I had such a good time reading this, especially as an ET resident because a lot of this stuff we have also directly encountered um where I train and so I implore a lot of people to read this especially those thinking about going into any surgical specialty. Um but those that also want a deeper dive just into the day-to-day um of what a surgeon's life, especially a powerful female surgeon's life could look like. Um so yeah, anyway, breathless. by Dr. Tony.
