Taking your kids to Bass Pro Shop for free Santa photos instead of paying 60 at the mall is normal. Buying practical gifts like pajamas, socks, books instead of trendy ones is normal. Not having matching pajamas for all 12 people is normal. Skipping the advent calendars that cost more than actual gifts is normal. Using wrapping paper from last year is normal. Putting up one tree versus three or five is normal. Having a budget for the holidays and actually sticking to it is normal. Not doing stockings for pets is normal. Setting boundaries with family around gift exchanges is normal. Skipping neighbor gifts, coworker gifts, mailman gifts, if it's not in your budget is normal. Not traveling because flights are insanely expensive is normal. And finally, not going into credit card debt to fund one day of the year should be the most normal thing of all.
