So I came out to Dubai had no job secured, but was able to land four job offers in four weeks. So here are some things that I have learnt about the job market out here I guess. First thing, it's tough. Like you know I don't think I need to tell anyone, it is very tough out here. It's tough pretty much everywhere, but Dubai specifically, it's a lot of competition. But I think the main thing is getting the interview is the hardest part. Like forget landing the job, doing well in the interview, getting the interview itself is one of the hardest things. However, I would say it is like 10 times harder when you are not in the country, you know when you're not here and trying to find a position or find a company that would hire you. It's a lot easier when you're already in Dubai, you can do your interviews in person, the company knows that you're serious, they you know don't have to worry about bringing you over and things like that. So if you're not ready to make that commitment like I like I did, I would say your best bet is once you do get some interviews, trying to have them all booked in in the same week or two weeks or however long you can you can be out here so that you can go to these interviews in person. Another thing that you can do, if you're not necessarily getting interviews, obviously going through recruiters, reaching out to them, there's a lot of recruitment companies out here. A lot of the recruitment companies will have offices out here that you can go to directly. So you don't necessarily have to wait for a response back, just go in person. Go, you know do it the old fashioned way, print your CV, go to the recruitment offices. You just have to think outside of the box I think to get noticed. Another thing, don't just easy apply these companies. If they put easy apply on LinkedIn for you to apply for the job, just at least try and go to the website and apply that way. You know there's thousands of people hitting easy apply for these jobs, you're just going to kind of get lost in the mix if you're just, you know someone in a list of tens of thousands of LinkedIn applicants. Another thing I've realized is that if a company says you need to speak Arabic, it's not always the truth. I landed a position where in the job description it said I needed to speak Arabic, but that wasn't the case. They just put me into a region that, you know doesn't only have Arabic speaking clients. Don't let that I guess stop you from applying if you tick, you know majority of the boxes, just shoot your shot. I'd say another hack which I always say, a referral is one of the easiest ways to get in front of a, um in front of the company. Even if you don't know someone from a company and you're trying to work there, reach out to them on LinkedIn. Reach out to an account executive at the company, whatever the role is that you're trying to get. A lot of the companies have referral schemes, so people would actually rather refer you because they might get, they have an incentive for it. That's another way to think about it.
