You're not going to like this, but these are categorically the five worst things you can buy. A brand new car on finance. Everyone knows cars go down in value and brand new ones depreciate the fastest, literally from the second you own it. So why you'd finance one and lock yourself into 200 pounds a month for two to five years, I just don't get it. Luxury and designer items. Just think for a second, do you care about what other people are wearing, where their shoes are from, or how much they paid for their outfit? No? Well, it works both ways. Don't spend money you don't have on things that aren't even good quality to impress people that don't care. Subscriptions and gym memberships you're not using. These businesses make so much money from people signing up, barely using it, and forgetting to cancel. And before you know it, you've got multiple bills coming out each month which add up to hundreds of pounds wasted every year. High interest credit card debt. A credit card can be a great tool for earning cashback and growing your credit score if you use it like a debit card. Only spend what you can afford to pay back and pay it back in full and on time each month. Do not, I repeat, do not carry a balance or you'll be paying back between 20 and 40 percent interest. Lottery tickets and gambling. Anyone who does this either has money to burn or doesn't understand probability. Over the long term, you'll be much better off saving or investing into something tangible. Or if you prefer luck over logic without losing money, why not check out Premium Bonds?
