when you accidentally become someone's core memory

I ran into my teacher and I asked her why did she always put me next to this one kid. For context this guy was so hard to talk to. He always avoided eye contact, he didn't speak up at all, and he honestly was pretty rude at the beginning. But because he's one of the few Asian kids at the school, I decided to just keep talking to him and I eventually found out that he likes 2 things. He likes to run and he likes photography. So over time, I encouraged him to take pictures of his runs so he could show it to me. And it became our weekly routine where I'd ask him, "how was your weekend?" And he'd show me the latest hike or trail that he ran. And it was always so encouraging to see... But as nice as it was to talk to him, my crush was in the class. So I asked my teacher why did she never put me next to her. Like we had assigned seating 8 different times and all 8 times she put me next to this guy. And it's always in the front of the class. And my teacher said, "Jason, I put you in the front because you talk so much and I had to keep my eye on you. And 2nd, you don't know what that kid was going through. His parents lost their jobs and they were actually living out of their car for several months. And that's why he ran so much because he didn't want his parents to use their car. And because of what was happening with his personal life, his grades were slipping. He was straight up failing. But for some reason, because you kept bugging and talking to him so much like "Hey what did you get on that question? Did you study for the test yet? You know it's in a few days from now. Do you wanna share? Do you wanna exchange homework?" Yeah I caught you guys trading answers, but I didn't say anything because it encouraged him to want to do better. And he didn't do that great, he still barely passed. But he passed and that's all that matters. And you would have talked to your crush anyways, but this way you got to help somebody that wasn't just yourself. Okay, okay, that makes sense. What do y'all think? Has this ever happened to you guys?
