what i did during the two summers i didn't have a SWE internship (which helped me land the 4 swe internships i ended up doing) there are gonna be a lot more students without internships this summer than with one and i used to be one for a so this is everything that i did to stay busy I know it feels like the end of the world but i promise the two summers i didn't have an internship i taught coding camps which heavily contributed getting my first software engineering in in finance did i have any personal projects no did i need no no i was in this networking club in high school called CyberPatriot and basically we were the nerds we were the nerds of the school who competed in this cyber security competition so so i went back to my high and kind and kind of mentored a few teams. when i competed in that my team and I made the gold round two years in a row and I think we made semi finals one of I was a Cisco so I did all of the Cisco networking configurations and mentored the kids who were doing that and then and then simultaneously I was also I was also working a part time fast food job which you guys already I was a pizza delivery driver for 7 years when I ended up pitching myself to the to the JP Morgan representative for for their software engineering internship which was only meant which was only meant for juniors but I was a sophomore and I ended up getting the internship I tried to pitch those experiences differently each of those taught me something completely different about myself and how I would fit into a software engineering program so for example me teaching coding camps taught me how to teach how to teach people 2 how to learn on the because a lot because a lot of the scholars that would implement a lot of features that I didn't even know so I had to learn how to debug the CyberPatriot mentorship taught me a lot about mentoring taught me a lot about networking things that I didn't even know when and being being a fast food worker is a skill in of itself that taught me so that taught me so much about myself how to be patient with how to work in a fast paced environment and so much more so just just try to figure out what you can do this summer it doesn't have to be a software engineering as long as you're doing something that's better than nothing
