the most successful people know how to play poker. a few weeks ago i went to this poker night where there were a lot of founders, a lot of investors, just super important people in this room. it was about 20 people and there were two poker tables. both had poker games going on, like actual poker games, people were putting in real money. i wasn't that confident in myself so i didn't play those real money poker games. but then the night went on and then eventually we got into the fun poker. so one of the tables turns into the fun poker game kind of table, no high stakes at all, it was not real money. a bunch of the people that were playing with real money ended up playing at this table and i was seated next to a couple of them and we were in the middle of the game and i realized that they would just casually bring up conversations, casually bring up business dealings, casually just talk about really important things over this game of poker. we were talking about a lot of what i would say would be confidential things and it was so casual. so one of the people i was sitting next to was a real estate agent for multi million dollar properties and he would tell me about all of these crazy stories and all of these crazy things that he's learned, all of these different investments he's made and like what he's learned from these investments, asking me if i wanted opportunities for any of these things that he was involved in and i was like, wait, it's that easy? and then casually the person on the other side of me would reveal some very, very confidential business dealings. i'm just sitting there wondering, is this actually what happens at poker games? because i know a lot of business people love poker and i always wondered why they loved poker because i'm like i love poker because it's really fun, but like what is the significance behind a bunch of business men, you know, playing poker? i realized that a lot happens over a game of poker. a lot is revealed over a game of poker. so now my bucket list is to get more comfortable playing poker because i'm gonna start playing with real money, not a lot of money but real money, so i can get into these insane rooms and learn more about how these really, really successful businessmen work. i learned a lot.
