Let's open your 529 account. Are you already a Fidelity customer? Select Yes if you have a brokerage, IRA, 401k, or other Fidelity account. Yes. No. Opening an account takes just a few minutes. First, you'll need to log into your Fidelity account. Next, we'll fill your application with information from your existing profile. Finally, begin the process of transferring money into your account. What type of 529 would you like? Account type. What type of 529 would you like? Individual. Custodial. Individual. This is the most common type of 529 account. You'll maintain control over the account, even after the beneficiary is an adult. You can change the beneficiary at any time. Custodial. This is the least common type of 529 account. The account will transfer to the beneficiary when they become an adult; you won't have control over it at that point.
