we downgraded our chase sapphire reserve today to the chase sapphire preferred because it was the time that we were starting to get charged the new annual fee which is $795. and the authorised user fee was a hundred and ninety five dollars. so it did not make sense for us anymore. but it pains my soul because I really did love that card and love the benefits. like I talked about in december, we went to london and used points plus the added credit and stayed at like a 5 thousand dollar five star luxury hotel. like it would have been five thousand dollars plus for our stay for free. so obviously that is worth it. and then it has lounge access which I really enjoyed when I got to use it. it also had dash pass. it had apple tv+ included. it has the global entry even though we didn't need that. our global entry is good right now. but it had a lot of perks. also the insurance on car rentals and just like travel and stuff. I did like all that a lot. did forget to mention in the benefits you also got a 300 dollar credit right away. so I do count that in. and then that lowers your fee immediately because we always send on travel. so I am sad and I was really torn on this decision because emotionally like I want to keep the card. however, this next year we're going on a nomad year and we're not really going to be travelling. the nomad year is our travelling, so I could not justify the 800 dollar fee or the $1,000 if you add the authorised user. anyway, it just 100% was not gonna be worth it. this next year we're. maybe when this nomad year is over we'll get back to it. but I'm just being dramatic really, because I really enjoyed it and I'm like just sad to be downgraded, but I know financially it made the most sense. like I was like, I'm not paying an 800 dollar fee. I'm not even paying a 500 dollar fee. but yeah.
