Here are five facts I bet you didn't know about the Lotus Emira. The first fun fact is that the Emira actually comes with the option of two separate engines, either a supercharged V6 or an inline four-cylinder turbo from AMG. This one's a four-cylinder turbo, makes 100 horsepower per cylinder. Another fact is that this car is finished in Eos Green, which was a $3,000 paint option, however it absolutely sparkles in the sunshine. Now if you look behind the doors you will find a side air intake on the Emira. Now this actually leads to some pretty crazy induction noise if you have the turbo model and it sounds like this. *Turbo noises* Next, if we open up the door and take a look at the inside, you will find a fun little Easter egg on the HVAC controls and that is that the actual driver has a racing helmet which calls back to Lotus's racing history. Now another fun fact has to do with the shifting lever right here. Now if you have the V6 you can get a six-speed manual, however this has the eight-speed DCT. And usually on a DCT, DCT equals dual clutch transmission, you can usually go up and down in order to do like a kind of a sequential shift. However on the Emira when you push forward and back, that's actually how you go from reverse and neutral and drive. So what do you do if you want to use this as a bit of a shifter instead of having to use the flappy paddles? You can, it's just left and right. Left for downshift, right for upshift. I don't think I've ever seen that in any car before.
